DSL

Check for DSL availability

DSL service provides high speed Internet access through your existing phone line, with download speeds ranging from 768Kbps to 7100Kbps -- about 15 to 120 times faster than a 56Kbps modem.

With DSL, there's no need to have special software, modem, or phone line for each computer. You can easily connect any number of computers with a reliable high-speed connection to the Internet, and use your phone line to make calls or faxes at the same time.

All of Cloud 9's DSL services include the following features:

  • Static IP addressing
  • Service up and running in about 3-5 business days
  • Stay connected 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with no disconnections
  • Email accounts with SpamAssassin and virus scanning
  • Manage your email accounts and DNS via our Customer Care site
  • Easy to reach, knowledgeable technical support, via phone and email

DSL Access Service:

  • Connects a single computer to the Internet
  • Includes 6 mailboxes
  • Includes 1GB of disk space and UNIX shell access
  • Ability to connect with a modem when at work, traveling, or if your DSL goes down

DSL LAN Service:

  • Connects multiple computers to the Internet
  • A public subnet of between 2 and 30 usable addresses (/30 to /27)
  • Includes 11 mailboxes, each with 1GB of disk space
  • Primary and/or secondary domain name service
  • Registration of a domain name (annual registration charges apply)

In order to receive DSL service you need to be within 18,000 feet of the Verizon central office that provides telephone service to your area. DSL requires that you have Verizon local phone service, and can only be installed on a POTS (plain old telephone service) line. ISDN BRI and most types of Centrex are incompatible with DSL.
